Did you know that adoption and service fees provide only 39 percent of our $925,000 annual operating budget? Almost all the rest - 56 percent - must come from supporters like you. Please send a check today or call us at 942-8902 to make a donation by phone. If you'd like to donate online, click the "donate" tab on our homepage.
If you would prefer to give something concrete, please check our 2013 Wishlist for items of need. You can also shop online for our shelter pets at our Amazon Wish List.
If you can give of your heart, your time, expertise, man or womanpower we would love to have you as one of valued volunteers. If you can open your own home to provide temporary respite for a shelter pet, we'd be thrilled if you would become a Foster Parent.
Sponsor a Kennel!
When you sponsor a kennel you provide animals in need with a warm place to stay, food, medical care and all the love they need and deserve. A kennel tag will be displayed on the kennel you sponsor, and this tag/sponsorship can be in honor or memory of a beloved pet or simply say your name (a great opportunity for business advertisement as well.) Sponsorship opportunities include a dog kennel range from $250 to $1,000 annually. Cat kennel sponsorships range from $125 to $500 annually. We also give you the option to pay in full or have a monthly payment plan. Please call Stacey Coventry at (207) 942-8902 x103 or click the link above for more information!
Many unwanted pets arrive at the Bangor Humane Society before they are quite ready for adoption. Whether they are too young, too shy, in need of some training or medical attention, these pets benefit tremendously from a little TLC in a qualified foster home before they become available for adoption.
Please note: the Bangor Humane Society receives hundreds of applications a year and is unable to enroll everyone. We choose candidates based on needs of shelter and schedule orientations accordingly. We appreciate your understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience. Volunteering at the Bangor Humane Society is fun and incredibly rewarding. Thank you for thinking about joining our volunteer team! For a couple of hours each week you will find the gratitude of our furry friends that makes our work so worthwhile! Anyone under sixteen years of age must have an adult (21+ years of age) with them while they volunteer.
This is a quick, easy and cost-free way for you to support our animals. Simply visit goodsearch.com when looking for information on the internet and choose Bangor Humane Society as your charity. Goodsearch donates $.01 to us for each search conducted through their site. Doesn't seem like much, but if 1,000 people searched 2 times a day we could raise$7,300 dollars. If 10,000 people searched 2 times a day, we would raise $73,000! That's almost an entire month of expenses for the Bangor Humane Society. Through this site there is also the option for online shopping through GoodShop. Hundreds of your favorite retailers including Best Buy, Home Depot, Amazon.com and PetCo.com (to name just a few) can be found on this site. You can even book hotels and order flowers! If 1,000 people spent just $500 each year through GoodShop, we could raise an additional $15,000 and if 10,000 people did this we could raise $150,000! This means that just by searching the internet and shopping - something we all do everyday - we could work together to pay for up to three months of care for the homeless and unwanted pets of our communities! The best part about it - it wouldn't cost any of us a dime!
Gifts and donation in Honor or in Memory of family, friends, pets or others are welcomed. An acknowledgement is sent to the honoree, next of kin or interested party. For details call the Bangor Humane Society at 942-8902.
These Bangor area businesses support BHS all year long by allowing us to feature some of our adoptable cats in their storefront to help increase our adoption rate. Thank You!
