At the Bangor Humane Society, we employ approximately fifteen direct-care staff as Adoption Counselors and Animal Care Technicians. We have a very small number of administrative and management positions. While previous experience with animal handling is preferred, new employees and volunteers are trained extensively on-site. 

Volunteering is also an excellent way to find out whether a career working with animals is right for you and get a foot in the door.

We are currently hiring a Part Time Adoption Counselor!

Adoption Counselor:

Adoption Counselors work hands-on with animals and people on a daily basis. Animal handling includes, but is not limited to: cleaning/feeding, walking, doing visits, doing intakes, and more! The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who has excellent customer service skills, thrives when working as part of a team, and has a love for animals.

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm.
  • Customer service experience is required.
  • Domestic animal care experience.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • High school diploma is required.
