Spay / Neuter
Our Spay/Neuter Voucher program is designed for pet owners who may receive some form of state or federal assistance (i.e., MaineCare, Food Stamps, TANF, WIC, SSI, etc.) or if the family’s household income falls below the federal poverty guideline (verifiable via a W-2 or pay stub). Our voucher acts as a coupon for a discount on the spay/neuter surgery itself, at a participating vet clinic, for pets six months of age or older.
Additional costs may be charged at the time of spay or neuter by your vet should your pet require additional services such as an exam, shots, or treatments. A list of vet clinics that participate in our program will be provided to you upon receiving a voucher. Please stop by during business hours with proof of income or assistance, along with a photo ID, to speak with our staff about getting a voucher.
Spay Your Mama
Do you have a cat with kittens or a dog with puppies? If you surrender your litter to BHS, we will spay and return the mom to you for a small fee of $50 per female cat and $75 per female dog. For more information, please call BHS at (207) 942-8902 to speak with a staff member directly.
If you do not qualify for our voucher program, there are other options that may be available to you. Check out the following:
